Flatwoven carpets are taking the design market by storm! Ranging from simple textures to complex designs, flatwoven styles capture the cleaner essence of today’s interiors. They are fresh, are easily adapted to area rug fabrication- bound, serged, or finished with a simple or decorative binding tape and look fabulous on stairs, although not all flatwoven carpets are suitable for stair use.
Flatwoven carpets are typically created on a standard Wilton loom that has had the looper bars removed, therefore loops are absent and the carpet has a flat construction and appearance. Some flatwoven products are woven fabrics with carpet backing applied. Either way the aesthetic created is clean, fresh, and dimensional without a lot of height or pile. They look and can be tough wearing. Flatwoven carpets can also look similar to hand-woven products, which can add to the feel of custom luxury.
Bellbridge has created a range of flatwoven Wilton styles with a variety of textures, subtle colorations, and end-use applications. This is accomplished by a Wilton machine that controls both the placement of yarns for the pattern as well as the flow of yarn for texture. This process imparts an appearance of gentle wear to the texture of the designs; much like the ‘old world artisan rugs’. Our Masters Collection– Cezanne, Monet, and Van Gogh- are a “pinched” flatweave construction. Our Aqueous Collection – Riverbed and Waterfall- feature subtle striations of tonal color and “hand-woven” textures which impart a casual elegance to each design.
